Can somebody help me LIKE Trina?!

I was about 14 when Trina first hit the scene with Trick Daddy on his debut single "Nann". Back then I thought the Miami Femcee was the bomb. (Lingo for that day. Lol.) I got her first few albums and rocked with her. As I got older and came into my own as a writer, I started to respect rappers/MCs for their lyrical ability more than anything. Trina was one of those rappers that lost steam with me because, frankly, she can't rap worth shit to me. Her lyrics are simple, predictable, and redundant. I am all for upholding women so when her last mixtape "Diamonds Are Forever" dropped I downloaded it and gave it a listen hoping that she's grown as a writer and I would actually like her music more. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Trina is still the same old Trina. The best thing about the mixtape is that it features two Cleveland producers on track 15 titlled "Bad Bitch".
Am I trippin'? Listen for yourself and let me know what you think.

  1. I liked Trina when I was a teenager, as well but haven't listened to her much in my post-college years. I wasn't a huge fan of hers though because I was preoccupied with Lil' Kim at the time but I still liked some of her songs. I believed that the quality of her music suffered more after she began to date Lil' Wayne but that may not have anything to do with it.....still, I have wondered if their relationship had an effect on her music.

There seem to be a lot of her fans who actually like her new album. I've read some positive reviews that made me curious about buying it and a few months ago, the download version was pretty cheap, much less than the CD but I decided not to buy it.
