Mobile Post: NaNoWriMo - Day 1 #nanowrimo

November is National Novel Wrting Month b.k.a. NaNoWriMo. A month long commitment where authors pledge to write a 50,000 word novel in one month.
I decided to do this because I think this will help me be a better writer. I jumped into writing head first without knowing much about the process. Its more that just putting words on paper. There's a lot that goes into writing a novel and the first step is allowing ur creativity to flow freely. That's kinda been a hurdle for me. I have a hard time separating my writer from my editor so I pause frequently during the creative process to make sure everything is right.
NaNoWriMo is not about putting out a complete book in a month. Its about getting the words out. I'll have plenty of time to edit later. So I'm excited to do this because I'm sure this will benefit me.
The story I'm working on is called 'Gangbang: A Love Story'. Its about a young girl that got sexed into a gang and the trials and tribulations that go along with that life. I've had the story outline done for a few months. My plan was to start on it when 'My Mother's Murder' was completely done. But I decided to put that on hold for this month. I'll finish rewrites for that in December.
Day 1 of NaNoWriMo went pretty good. My outline is in storage so I had to wing it. The words flowed pretty freely. Better than I expected because I usually get brain freeze in front of a computer screen. I gotta write stuff down first. Today I didn't get that feeling much. I did have my moments though.
I calculated that I would have to write 1,667 words a day to reach my goal. That seemed like a lot of words everyday. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I surpassed that goal after only typing about 3 pages. So this doesn't seem as bad as I thought.
All in all, I had a good first day! I'm confident that I will complete NaNoWriMo and have a good manuscript to work with when I'm done.
