Urban Author Gets $200k Bentley From Rapper Boo

The folks over at Bossip didn't have anything nice to say about Jasmine D. Thomas. She's the author of the urban fiction romance When A Diva's Fed Up and girlfriend to rapper, Meek Mill.
Jasmine made her rounds on the gossip blogs after she tweeted pics of a Bentley that Meek bought her. She had the car on the lawn of what looked like the projects and was just being real extra in some of the pics. Note: These pics are from March. I have no idea what the deal is between Jasmine and Meek but I'm gonna assume they're still together. Here are a few pics. For more check out the SOURCE.  Do you think she was way too ghetto? Or is she just the proud owner of a new Bentley?

Scarface Lands Book Deal For New Memoir

I am so in love with Scarface. He is by far one of the top five rappers in hip hop history and is a legend in the game. He's been thorough a lot over his 20+ year career and has signed with It Books Publications to publish the book. The release is set for fall of 2014 along with a new album. Here's what Mark Chait, the editor who acquired the book, had to say:

More than just an autobiography, it’s an eloquent take on the whole story of rap, but from a Southern perspective.  Scarface was a 70s baby growing up in Houston when two new things swept into town – hip-hop and crack – that would change him and kids like him forever.  He was there from the beginning and there would certainly be no T.I.,Lil WayneLudacrisMaster P, etc., if it wasn’t for him.  And Benjamin, formerly of Vibe and Billboard, knows more about Southern rap than any other writer.

I know that I will be checking for the book when it comes out. Will you?

Tionna Smalls Lands MTV Show Based On Her Book!

We all know the feisty Tionna Smalls as the matchmaker who tried to help Chilli find a man on her 2010 reality show What Chilli Wants. Did you girls know that her career started with a self-published book? Of course you didn't. You're welcome. :)
Tionna published her first book titled Girl, Get Your Mind Right! in 2007 which landed her jobs with Gawker and Radar Online as a relationship expert columnist. This helped build buzz and sales for Girl, Get Your Mind Right! and caught the attention of execs at VH1.
Fast forward to today and Miss Smalls has become an official boss chick and mogul. Not only has her publishing company, Talk Dat Ish Books, signed book deals with Neffe Pugh (Keyshia Cole's sister) and Tashera Simmons (DMX's ex-wife) but she has her own jewelry boutique and brand new show on MTV named after the book that started it all.
Girl, Get Your Mind Right the TV show premiers on MTV on May 20th at 6pm. It will be a daily, half hour show that pinpoints women's dating flaws and helps them fix them. Tionna Smalls has made history, too. Her show is the very first show in MTV history to show daily and is produced by and starring a black woman.
I love Tionna Smalls. She is one of the women entrepreneurs I look to as an inspiration. I'm am so happy for her and proud of the big moves she's making. I will be tuned in on the 20th for this one. Will you? Check out the trailer:

Musiq To Write Book On Love & Relationships

Musiq Soulchild is my favorite neosoul singer. I never thought anybody would knock D'Angelo out of the number one spot but Musiq did. The singer/songwriter is taking his talents to the publishing world. He is penning a new book based on what his music proves he knows a lot about: Love. The singer told Billboard Magazine:
“It’s going to be about love and relationships, and love and music. Basically it’s just a man with an opinion ranting about love and relationships and how my music is affected by them and how my music impacts other people’s relationships. I know my core audience and people who are interested in my music will be interested in it, and hopefully people who never even heard of me and wouldn’t even be interested in the music I make will at least be interested in my thoughts and opinions on how we as people relate to each other in terms of romantic love and relationships. I just really hope people will enjoy it.”
I know that I cannot wait to read this book when it comes out. Here's my favorite Musiq Soulchild song "So Beautiful". Enjoy and get the book when it drops!
