Amber Rose's Plans To Expose Her Freaky Tales

Amber Rose has done a very good job at turning nothing to something. She went from being Kanye West's girlfriend to becoming a brand and holding her own in the entertainment industry. She has her own  sunglasses line, a role in the new "Gang Of Roses" sequel, and even snagged another rapper boyfriend. Wiz Khalifa is head over heels for the girl.
Now Amber is trying her hand at writing. She announced that she will be releasing a series of books via her blog. Check out what she had to say:

"I have decided that I will write books. Something u may not know about me is that I've been writing stories for a long time it was always something personal for me but now I'm ready to share my stories with the world. My books are about being in Love, Heartbreak, Sex, betrayal and all of the things that I've been thru in my life. Stories that will make u feel many emotions based on true events of my past and present. I hope u are as excited to read my books as I am to write them for u -Amb

Nothing against Amber but I can't help but think, "Damn, anybody can get a book deal these days..." . Hopefully the books are good because I'm sure she has plenty of stories to tell. She's a self-proclaimed "Philly hood rat" so I guess we'll just have to wait and see how she does.

Racist Summer's Eve Commercial?!

I hate the fact that racism still exists in this country, but it is what it is. Racism is everywhere but is it in this Summer's Eve commercial? 

What Summer's Eve wanted to do was make a funny commercial about a talking vagina targeted to women of color. It uses a hand to represent the vagina and she's telling you that you should pay just as much attention to keeping your vajayjay right as you do making sure your hair and fashion is right. 

I don't think the commercial is racist. I can definitely see the stereotypes the used with the "sister girl" tone of voice  and the slang. The commercial isn't degrading though. 

I think that women are being a little sensitive about the whole thing. Check out the commercial below and tell me what you think.

The Red Pump Project

It's National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day!

I am one of 1,200 bloggers that are participating in the Red Pump Project to raise awareness for HIV/AIDS among women and girls. 

A woman tests positive for HIV every 35 minutes. Black women make up for 66% of that number. In 2006, 69% of AIDS cases were that of Black teen girls.

Beyonce & Oprah are the richest women in Hollywood!

Forbes recently issued it's list for the top 10 female earners in Hollywood. I was not surprised to find out that Beyonce and Oprah were the top two on the list. I'm all about empowerment for black women and this is just another good look for us. I aspire to have careers like these two ladies. Wanna get a man? Quit going to church.

I've been hearing a lot about a CNN report that was aired saying that the Black church keeps Black women single. When I first saw a link about it on Mediatakeout.com, I ignored it. Mainly because MTO can put some B.S. up sometimes. What made me pay attention to it was when I heard the topic being discussed on the Ricky Smiley morning show on Z1079. I didn't even think it was true that the study was done before then.I think the whole thing is ridiculous. Here's why...

• Just like so many other Black people, I grew up in the church. I know all about the Ten Commandments, Jesus' miracles, and countless other parables and scriptures. Pre-marital sex is a no-no and you HAVE to get married if you want to live  life as a woman. According to the church, either you get married or you stay celibate. That didn't sit well with me, so when I turned 18 I did my own thing. I wanted to be able to go on dates, wear makeup, and kiss. (Among other things...) I went against what the church said was right as far as how to date. Had I followed the rules I still would have dated, but we all know being a teenager is all about having fun. Dating the church way was not fun, but it wasn't non-existent. 
• The church is an isolated situation, in my opinion. The church community is small in reference to the rest of the world. There are so many different denominations and beliefs that you can't group all Black churches into one and say that the church, as a whole, is what is keeping Black women single. Trust me because I'm out here in it. I know there are a million other factors that go into being single. Good and bad from both men and women so blaming the church is crazy to me. 
•  The man that the church says is the perfect man to be with can be somewhat unrealistic. Some churches will shun what "worldly" people would say is a good man. He can have a good job, no felonies, a college degree, and his own very successful business; But if he doesn't attend both services on Sunday, bible study on Wednesday, and can't quote scripture then he's not worthy of that Christian woman. So some very good men get passed up. 

I can understand why the report would think that the church is keeping women single because of the strict rules when it comes to sex, dating, and marriage. Christian women make the choice to stay single because of their religion. There are also women that get saved during their relationship without their man and if he doesn't find God with her she will leave him behind.
Did anyone doing this study stop and consider the fact that a woman can CHOOSE to be single for her career or financial goals? Furthermore, did they do this study on any other nationality?
